Evaluación de daños provocados por el incendio forestal en el santuario de la mariposa monarca ubicado en Zitácuaro, Michoacán ocurrido en mayo de 2020, mediante la aplicación del índice normalizado de incendios NBR

Abstract

RESUMEN: En este proyecto se realizó el análisis de los daños provocados en la vegetación que ocasionó el incendio en el cerro El Cacique, y el cual se extendió al Santuario de la Mariposa Monarca ubicado en el municipio de Zitácuaro, Michoacán. Se utilizaron imágenes satelitales del sensor Sentinel 2, de donde se extrajo la información espectral para aplicar el Índice Normalizado de Incendios (NBR) y el Índice de Vegetación Diferencial Normalizado (NDVI). En el NBR se ocupó las bandas del infrarrojo cercano y el infrarrojo de onda corta, las imágenes corresponden a los días 16 y 26 de Mayo, siendo estos días previo y posterior al incendio. Para el NDVI se utilizaron las bandas rojo e infrarrojo cercano, en el cual se aplicó a las mismas imágenes satelitales del NBR, añadiendo una extra correspondiente al día 10 de Julio. Los resultados permitieron hacer la interpretación visual del comportamiento del suelo en la zona y la estimación de las hectáreas afectadas o en su caso recuperadas. ABSTRACT: This project analyzed the damage caused to the vegetation by the fire in “El Cacique” hill which extended to the monarch butterfly biosphere reserve in the municipality of Zitacuaro, Michoacan. Satellite images from the Sentinel 2 sensor were used where the spectral data was obtained which was applied on the Normalized Burn Ratio (NBR) and on the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). The near infrared and infrared short bands were used on the NBR. The images correspond to the 16 th and 26 th of May which were before and after the fire respectively. The red and near infrared band were used on the NDVI in which the same satellite images of NBR were applied adding another one corresponding to July 10th. The results allow to visualize the changes on the soil in the area and estimate the hectares of vegetation affected or recovered.
